A computer scientist by education and passion, I have in my past life worked at Google AI Z\u00fcrich, taming<\/a> spiking neural networks<\/a>, giving the expressivity and extrapolation powers of matrix exponentiation<\/a> <\/strong>to the regular ones, helping conduct one type of brain surgery<\/a>, as well as working with my team to fulfill its mandate in developing JPEG XL<\/a>, including finding ways it got things wrong<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Guided by my longstanding interest in trading and related activities, I then joined GSA Capital, a London systematic hedge fund, as a quantitative researcher. While I can’t be nearly as open about the details, it concerned the application of machine learning to trading equities on the alpha side. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Since then I’ve been doing consulting work for international clients ranging from publicly traded companies through early-stage startups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
